about

Raised in a strict Lutheran household located in the outskirts of Örvényes, Hungary, Bjorn Fencer was well into his thirties before he heard any form of popular music, and has been fascinated every since. After graduating from a small church-run music academy, Bjorn was awarded a scholarship to study with Iannis Xenakis in France from 1999 until the composers death in 2001. His own practise involves the subversion of popular music tropes in avant-garde forms, a process Xenakis infamously described as 'taking everything that's bad about music, and making it a little worse'. After a decade of impromptu performances and installations across western Europe, Bjorn's first album contains a number of works written during that time, and clearly articulates the imitable wit that has defined his career to date.
